Issues That Matter

Healthcare

Healthcare is a major policy focus of Tyler. Having deep personal experience with the healthcare industry, including the loss of many close family members like his little sister, he hopes to improve our health system within the state so no one has to go through what his family did.

Education

Education is one of if not the most important policy position any elected official can have. It is literally the policy of the future of our city and our state, and without good education policy, every other position is worthless. Tyler is fortunate, as a career educator he has some ideas on how to bring our standards of education to where they should be, far from the bottom of the list.

Tyler works in an elementary school, and everyday witnesses first hand accounts of how the low pay impact the educators he works with. Teachers and support staff alike suffer from extremely low pay in a job where the future of our state relies on their successes. Many teachers have even been seen taking a second job to pay for their expenses.

Cost of Living

Tyler will work tirelessly to improve the living conditions of the people of Nevada in all ways not only ending the corporate domination of health in our state, but improving the lives of the working class in all metrics. To do this Tyler will fight to end the cost-of-living crisis we are experiencing here in Nevada, but especially the valley.

Tyler's Solutions:

  1. Universal healthcare for the people of Nevada. Insurance companies have for too long controlled the procedures, medicines, or all around care of patients, turning an industry meant to improve the lives of the people, into one simply used for the profit of a few owners on top.

  2. Private health insurance in the state of Nevada should be banned, replaced with a public model, using health professionals to help guide the new program.

  3. Nurse ratio bills should also be passed on the state level. S.B. 182 was passed by the legislature but shamefully vetoed by Gov. Lombardo. If we want good quality healthcare for our people, and reasonable working conditions for our nurses, nurse ratios must be added to law.

  1. Give teacher and support staff associations the right to strike. Without that right, unions fail to achieve the big gains many hope for.

  2. Give teachers and support staff higher pay, and hire more of them. Teachers shouldn’t be instructing classes of nearly 40 students, for the little pay they get. Class ratio legislation is necessary.

  3. And to improve higher education in this state, Tyler proposes state ran and funded community college programs.

There are many other policies Tyler suggests to improve our system of education here in the state, for example bringing back our universal free school breakfast and lunch policies or, getting public money out of private schools, but this is a good start to understanding his beliefs on schools and education.

  1. Housing is far too expensive. To rent or to buy. Rent stabilizing policies should be implemented, corporations should be banned from home ownership, and a public bank should be created to provide low interest mortgages so that people actually have a chance to own their own homes.

  2. Full public ownership of utilities. Nevada energy has consistently raised prices, and are quickly pricing Nevadans out. This is our land, our water, our energy, and it should be controlled by all Nevadans.

  3. Bring manufacturing jobs to this state to help disconnect our economy from the booms and busts of the tourist cycle. This would include state ran factories, energy plants, and farms.

  4. Create a large social safety net, to protect the workers and people of Nevada. This would include, state funded higher education, subsidized groceries for all Nevadans, public housing, and a robust public transport service.
