Tyler Cavey is an educator working as a Specialized Programs Teaching Assistant (SPTA) at an elementary school here in CCSD. Born and raised in Las Vegas he has made his career and hobbies about serving the community he lives in, whether at school educating the next generation, volunteering at school events or, volunteering with the homeless at DSA events, Tyler has dedicated his life to helping those in need.

        Growing up Tyler was no stranger to the special education classroom. When Tyler was in First Grade he was diagnosed with Dyslexia, a learning disability that made learning how to read and write more difficult than for other students. The resource teachers in CCSD helped Tyler overcome this challenge. Tyler, as an adult, now works with children who have special needs; giving back to the school district that helped him. Being a career educator working in our public schools and, having gone to Las Vegas public schools his whole education, Tyler has some plans on how to fix our spiraling education rates and bring the students of this state what they deserve, a quality education.

        Tyler's life has also been marked with tragedy, specifically surrounding our health system here in Nevada. He lost his mother, brother, and little sister due to the tragic and horrendous mishandling of healthcare in the state of Nevada. Whether it was from hospitals failing to take care of their patient like in his mothers case, or the simple fact that health insurance seems to make it a point to ruin lives like in his sisters case, our system of health here in the state is broken, and Tyler plans to improve it so that no one ever has to go through what he and his family did again.

        Tyler and his little sister also struggled with homelessness, which contributed to his sister's death, and if elected Tyler will make sure that families and individuals in the valley will have adequate access to homes.

 

        Now, finally finding stable footing with a good career, and a loving wife and family, Tyler plans to help improve the city he has lived in his whole life and loves with all of his heart.
